Caveon Founders Appointed to Key Industry Positions

DRAPER, UTAH--4 June 2004--Three of Caveon's founders will assume key roles in industry organizations. These appointments reflect the ongoing industry contribution to which the founders of Caveon have committed their careers.

The NCME (National Council on Measurement in Education) announced the election of James C. Impara , Ph.D. as vice-president of NCME for 2004 and president elect for this measurement industry organization for 2005.  

A long-time contributor to NCME, an organization that has a focus on ensuring that assessment is fair and equitable for all students, Impara will assume leadership of the organization in 2005. He will lead NCME's efforts to expanding the horizons of testing, evaluation and measurement in education. Impara brings a wealth of background to the organization. Formerly a professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Nebraska Lincoln, he has published in many scholarly and trade publications in measurement. A member of NCME since 1966, he is a sought after reviewer and presenter at industry conferences. While serving as Director of the Buros Institute for Assessment Consultation and Outreach, from 1995 to 2003, he worked with clients within and outside of education.

Cyndy Fitzgerald , Ph.D. has been appointed by the Association of Test Publishers (ATP) to serve as Vice Chair for the 2005 ATP Conference. This appointment continues through 2006 when Cyndy will serve as Chair for the 2006 ATP Conference.

Cyndy Fitzgerald has a rich history with this testing industry association. She was elected President of ATP for 2002-2003 and has served on the ATP Board of Directors for the past six years (1998-2004). While President of ATP Cyndy organized a council of Past Presidents to set the direction of ATP for the next 10 years. She was instrumental in spearheading ATP's development of 'Guidelines for Computer Based Testing' and has been a major contributor to ATP's last five national conferences. Cyndy founded Caveon after her pivotal role in building Microsoft's Certified Professional programs and pioneering alternative item formats and simulation-based performance testing. Prior to her ten-year career at Microsoft, Fitzgerald had over a decade of consulting and teaching experience in the field of test design and analysis.

David F. Foster , Ph.D. was recently elected by industry peers to serve on ATP's Board of Directors. Dave's service on this industry-shaping board will continue through 2007.  

William G. Harris, Executive Director of ATP commented, "David Foster has been an ardent supporter of the growth and development of the testing industry. His presence on the ATP Board of Directors will serve us all well." No stranger to the ATP, Dave served as President of ATP for 2001-2002 and has been close to the organization for nearly a decade. His ATP presidency was marked by a broadening of the ATP-served audience. A monthly columnist for Certification Magazine, David Foster has been a pioneer in implementing computer-based testing at Novell. He currently serves on the International Test Commission and the Personnel Certification Accreditation Committee for the American National Standards Institute. He founded Galton Technologies in 1997 and now has brought together key testing industry players to found Caveon.
