A teacher and principal confessed to "unintentionally violating testing protocol." Those who rescored the tests discovered that 44% had been given scores that were too high.

It is also interesting to note that the investigation took 7 months. These things take time, they cost money, and they often do not obtain confessions from wrong-doers.

The Office of Special Investigations found that Bronx Collegiate Academy teacher Emso Asemota graded all of the August 2010 Integrated Algebra Regents exams by herself. The rules require that two teachers score each test.

State officials rescored the exams on a tip from a former principal of the school and found Asemota’s scores to be higher for 44 percent of the students — including seven who in realty failed the test.
