Dear Associate, |
| Have you ever witnessed a young person doing text messaging? Some can type out messages faster than a court reporter, using just a single digit. Text messaging has evolved its own form of shorthand referred to as "text language," or the hipper, "TXT lingo." |
Text language usually involves dropping vowels (e.g. ‘Srnsn’ instead of 'Sorensen’), using numbers for words (e.g. ‘2’ instead of ‘to’), using the sound of letters to replace a word (e.g. ‘nrg’ instead of ‘energy’), or a combination (e.g. 'CU L8R' instead of 'see you later'). |
| This week a couple of interesting stories surfaced that deal with the problem of kids using text language for their written reports. Can you say, "clueless?" I nu U c%d. (I knew you could.) |

Don Sorensen

That will just lead to report cards that make your parents go, like, :-(...
